SID Sounds Vol1+2 | Sound Libraries | Sampleism

Product Overview

The Commodore 64 was one of the first computers I grew up using after owning a Commodore Vic20. While I love the the sounds that it makes, it?s not exactly the easiest piece of hardware to use with Reason. What I decided to do was sample the raw wave forms that it has and set them up as instruments in NN-XT. The result ended up being a Refill of 282 samples in 6 NN-XT files. There is the saw, triangle, square, saw-square, triangle-square, and noise. Also included in this refill are a selection of drum sounds and they?re all set up in a single NN-XT. Since so many samples were recorded, there is no stretching done except near the upper and lower octaves. I sampled four octaves worth of notes with most wave forms. The SID never really produces the same exact wave form twice and these little slices will give you that sound. If there?s enough interest in this refill, I?ll work on sampling various combined wave forms from the Commodore 64 and release them in a similar manner. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! **November 11th, 2011** I have started to put up some demos of the refill and you can listen to them below. The songs that will be shown here will use nothing but the sounds in the refill plus some Matrix Pattern Sequencers. I will be adding more songs as time goes on. **February 6th, 2013** I?ve updated the Refill with a two more wave forms: saw-square and triangle-square. I also added a few Combinators in there to get you started. *** SID Sounds Volume 2 is the sequel to my original SID sound set. While Volume 1 concentrated on the raw wave forms of the SID chip, Volume 2 is all about lead sounds. I multi-sampled ten different synth patches using the MSSIAH cartridge and set them up as NN-XT instruments. While some of them are bread and butter type sounds, you?ll also find some wave table arpeggiated patches. Each sample was recorded for several seconds and I spent a good bit of time doing my best to set the loop points properly. There are a total of 325 samples weighing in at about 214MB. The demo song below utilizes three patches from this library. While I did concentrate on sampling lead sounds, some of them are definitely be used for bass lines. Other than a little bus compression, no EQ or effects have been applied to the NN-XT patches. *** The latest version of Kontakt 5 is required to use this library. I have no way of setting it up for older versions of Kontakt at this time. Demos -
