Common-or-garden PC file format for samples. Supports a variety of sample rates, channels, and bit resolutions but the data is stored uncompressed - thus taking up lots of space - and there aren't any widely used standards for WAV meta-data so you'll have to name and key-map WAV samples by hand. Having said that, it is certainly the format of choice for modern DAWs. Expect drumkits, loop collections and sampled instruments to be available in this format. Can be used with most reasonably modern equipment.
